The season of pickled vegetables has begun at Kyiv markets

Pickled cabbage, pickled cucumbers, and tomatoes have started to be sold at the capital's markets. Vendors who grow the vegetables themselves assure that there is enough supply until the end of April. Both wholesalers and farmers can participate in the markets, which helps to keep prices low.

The season of pickled and homemade preserves has begun at Kyiv markets. More stalls have appeared with pickled cabbage, pickled cucumbers, and tomatoes.

According to market participant Alexander, the season of pickling begins with seedlings, as all vegetables for pickling are grown independently. The products made from seasonal vegetables are enough for the entire winter, approximately until the end of April. All pickled and salted products are stored under appropriate temperature conditions, which allows them to retain their flavor as if they were just pickled.

Vendors note that there are no special recipes, and the secret to success is experience. Hostess Karina explained that after producing several tons of cabbage, the third ton turns out to be perfect.

Farmers and manufacturers of ready-to-eat food products, in addition to resellers, can participate in the fairs and sell their goods directly to buyers. This format allows for prices to be kept lower than in stores or on traditional markets. Registration is required to participate in the trade through a special online module, and the city has also launched a digital service with an interactive map of all fair locations.
