In Kyiv, a court rejected a lawsuit against a church due to noise from a generator.

The Obolon District Court of Kyiv rejected a resident's lawsuit regarding noise from a diesel generator installed by the Evangelical Christian-Baptist community "Awakening." The plaintiff claimed that the generator interfered with his daily life due to noise and exhaust fumes, but the court found no evidence to support his claims.

The Obolon District Court in Kyiv did not rule in favor of a local resident's lawsuit against the Evangelical Christian-Baptists "Awakening" religious community. The man demanded that the church be prohibited from using a diesel generator, which was installed in the spring of 2024 to provide electricity to the building during power outages, and that the church reimburse him for court costs.

The plaintiff, a resident of an adjacent building, claimed that the generator is turned on primarily on Sundays during religious services. According to him, the noise and exhaust fumes force him to close his windows and suffer from heat and a lack of fresh air.

Representatives of the religious community rejected the accusations, stating that the generator is located 25 meters away from the residential building, which complies with fire safety regulations. According to the technical passport, the noise level of the device at a distance of seven meters is 69 decibels, which does not exceed the permissible limits for residents on upper floors.

The plaintiff insisted that the distance to the generator was actually 18 meters, and the noise level in his apartment reached 61–62,5 decibels. The court rejected the lawsuit because the plaintiff did not provide any official measurements of the noise level taken by government agencies, nor did he request a forensic examination.
