SBU detains individual coordinating Russian strikes on TPPs in Kyiv region

The SBU detained a driver from a logistics company who was coordinating Russian strikes on heat and power plants in the Kyiv region. The individual photographed energy facilities, marked them on Google Maps, and transmitted information to the FSB through a chat bot. The man also tracked the locations of Ukrainian Defense Forces repair bases.

Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent in the Kyiv region who was coordinating strikes on local energy facilities. According to the SBU, the perpetrator turned out to be a driver of one of the logistics companies, recruited by the FSB.

Under the guise of business trips, the man was traveling near heat and power plants that were restoring their operation after previous shelling, and photographing them on his phone. He systematized the photos, marked the locations on Google Maps, and added his own comments. He planned to transmit the prepared materials to his Russian supervisor.

Employees of the SBU documented how the suspect was gathering information about the progress of restoration work at one of the local power plants. He was arrested while preparing a report for the Russian special services. It turned out that the man had come under the radar of the FSB due to anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram channels. He used a specially created chatbot to communicate with a representative of the FSB.

In addition to data on the energy infrastructure, the suspect was tracking the locations of repair bases of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. During a search, two mobile phones were seized from him. One of them he tried to destroy in order to conceal evidence of cooperation with the Russian special services. Investigators of the SBU informed the man about the suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason, committed during martial law). Currently, he is in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
