"Kyivvodokanal" will complete the backup power supply for water supply at 40 MW by the end of 2026 year.
"Kyivvodokanal" has already prepared 27 MW of backup power for supplying water to Kyiv, and plans to launch another approximately 40 MW by the end of 2026 year – approximately one-third of these works have been completed so far. Also, "Kyivvodokanal" reminded that the water pressure on upper floors during outages depends on pumping stations, which do not operate without electricity and do not belong to the company.
"Kyivvodokanal" has announced that the capital's water supply system is already prepared with 27 MW of backup power. This primarily refers to facilities with small and medium power capacities.
Separately, construction of power plants for facilities with high energy consumption is continuing. A project with a total capacity of approximately 40 MW is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026 year. Currently, about a third of the work has been completed, and this task has been designated as a priority.
The company explained that the water pressure on the upper floors of high-rise buildings is usually maintained by additional pumping stations. These stations require time to start, and they do not function without electricity. "Kyivvodokanál" emphasized that these pumping stations are not part of their responsibility.
