Kyiv temporarily stopped receiving wastewater from the Borshchiv community: water supply has been stopped in two communities.
October 8 Kyiv's sewage networks have temporarily stopped receiving wastewater from the Borshchiv community due to the shutdown of "Kyivvodokanal" facilities amid power outages in the city and region. As a result, water supply to Vyshneva and the Borshchiv community has been suspended. The restoration timeline is unknown, as it depends on the stabilization of the power supply.
October 8 Kyiv's sewage networks have temporarily stopped receiving wastewater from the territory of the Borshchiv community. The reason is the de-energization of facilities belonging to "Kyivvodokanal" due to emergency power outages in the city and region. This was reported by the acting head of the Borshchiv village council, the secretary of the Borshchiv village council, Alexander Medvid.
Without electricity, the waterworks facilities could not accept wastewater into Kyiv's networks. As a result, water supply was suspended in the communities of Vyshneva and Borshchiv.
According to Medved, the situation affects not only the sewage system, but also the overall water supply of the community. The timeline for restoring normal operations is currently unknown – it depends on stabilizing the power supply at the waterworks facilities.
Power outages in Kyiv and the surrounding region occurred on October 8 due to equipment damage and voltage drops in the high-voltage grid: instead of the scheduled outages, emergency shutdowns had to be implemented. Energy workers are working to restore the networks where it is safe to do so.
