Kyiv: Hourly and emergency power outages; the capital is developing backup heating and water supply

In Kyiv, power outages are in effect hourly on the left bank, and emergency outages on the right bank; in four districts, water is supplied at reduced pressure, and electric transport has partially stopped in three districts. The city has installed 700 generators for water and heating systems, and is building 13 backup heating facilities with a capacity of 1600 MW by the end of the year.

In Kyiv, hourly power outage schedules are in effect on the left bank, while emergency schedules are in place on the right bank. This was announced by Petro Panteleev, the acting first deputy head of the Kyiv City Administration, during a briefing.

Due to power outages in the Solomyan, Sviatoshyn, Holosiiv, and Шевchenkovskyi districts, water is being supplied at a reduced pressure. Some electric transport has stopped in the Obukhiv, Podil, and Sviatoshyn districts. The Syretsko-Pecherska metro line is operating on a special schedule due to restrictions on the use of the Southern Bridge, while other lines are operating normally. Passengers are asked to follow the latest announcements from "Kyiv Transport" and "Kyiv Metro".

For water and heating supply systems, we have already installed 700 generators; the water supply systems have 27 MW of backup power. Approximately 40 MW of backup capacity will be provided by special power plants: one-third of the work has been completed, and the project is scheduled to be finished by the end of the year.

In the capital, they are building 13 backup heating facilities with a total capacity of 1600 MW – they plan to complete them by the end of the year. In the event of damage to the main heat sources, the city will be able to switch to a backup system. In addition, Kyiv has 80 mobile and modular boilers, and heating points and "Resilience Hubs" are being set up in each district, while hospitals and social institutions have their own heat sources.

If there is no electricity for more than one day, the city will quickly connect public water fountains to backup power: responsible teams have already been identified, and they will deliver generators and connect them under the guidance of the relevant team.
