Kyiv: Public transport in three districts has partially stopped due to the lack of electricity
October 9 In the morning in Kyiv, due to a lack of power in the energy system, the movement of part of public transport in the Obolon, Podil, and Sviatoshyn districts was temporarily suspended. "Kyivtrans" has not announced a timeline for restoring service. The day before, due to power outages in the capital, the metro and part of the ground transportation were suspended, and the cost of taxi rides increased sharply.
October 9 In the morning in Kyiv, traffic on part of public transport in the Obolon, Podil, and Sviatoshyn districts was temporarily suspended. This was announced by the municipal enterprise "Kyivtrans," which cited the lack of voltage in the power grid as the reason.
The carrier has not specified exact dates for when transportation will resume normal operations. Residents of three districts are advised to follow further announcements from the company, as the regular route schedule is currently suspended.
The electricity supply situation in Kyiv and the surrounding region has been fluctuating in recent days: the city and region are alternating between stabilization schedules and emergency and unscheduled outages, without a clear schedule. The reason is the consequences of Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure, which have made it impossible for the networks to fully supply electricity to consumers.
The day before, trains in the metro and part of the ground transportation system were stopped due to a lack of power, and the prices for taxi rides to popular destinations increased several times. On the same morning, trolleybuses on several routes, including routes 14, 15, 38, 43, and 50, were stopped due to emergency power outages. The lack of power is also affecting water supply in some areas of the capital.
