Kyiv: Due to a drop in voltage, part of the ground transportation system, including trams, was temporarily suspended, and taxi fares increased significantly.
In Kyiv, public transport services were temporarily suspended in some areas due to a sharp drop in energy grid stability, according to the Kyiv City Council. The city is working on replacing sections of the Borshchivka rapid transit line with buses, and the resumption time is not yet specified. At the same time, emergency power outages have been implemented in the city and parts of the surrounding region, and taxi fares have increased significantly.
In Kyiv, due to a sharp drop in the energy grid's voltage, some public transport routes have been temporarily suspended, according to the Kyiv City State Administration. The city is working on temporarily replacing the Borshchivka line of the rapid tram with buses, but there have been no announcements about their operation yet. The administration has not specified when the transport will resume, but promised to provide further updates on changes to public transport.
The power outages coincided with disruptions in the operation of the Kyiv metro, where train traffic was also temporarily suspended due to a drop in voltage from external power sources. Later, two out of the three lines of the metro began to resume operation.
Simultaneously, power outages were implemented in the capital and part of the region due to equipment damage. According to published data, the situation with power supply in the capital region is characterized by fluctuations: the city and the region alternate between stabilization schedules and emergency outages without a clear schedule. The reason is the consequences of Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure, which have led to the inability of the networks to fully transmit electricity.
Due to power outages and disruptions to public transportation in Kyiv, prices for taxi rides to popular destinations have increased sharply, according to РБК-Україна. According to these figures, a trip from Maidan Nezalezhnosti to Osokorki at the "Standard" rate cost 1 101 UAH, "Comfort" — 1 249 UAH, and "Business" — 1 362 UAH; a trip to Obvodniy — 876, 984 and 1 088 UAH respectively.
