Kyiv resident takes in a dog named "Bilka," who was hiding from disturbances in the "Akademiystvo" area.
The animal lived near the market and would independently descend into the subway when the alarm sounded. After a temporary stay, it was taken in permanently by Marina, according to participants in the discussion on Threads.
The dog, named Bielka, whom Kyiv residents often encountered in a shelter at the «Akademytske» metro station, has found a permanent home. This was reported on October 21 by people on Threads who were following her story. The animal was taken in by a Kyiv resident named Marina.
According to local residents, the dog, named Білка, previously lived near the market, where it was fed. Upon hearing the air raid siren, it went to the metro on its own. People who regularly saw the dog said that it was familiar with the area and found shelter during dangerous situations. One user reported that Білка would descend into the underground during every siren and lie down next to people.
Later, the participants of the discussion expressed concern: the dog's bed had been damaged, and the dog, named Belka, was not in its usual place. According to social media reports, the woman who was caring for the animal had taken it home to wash. The dog was later returned to the metro station. One of the commenters shared a conversation with two women who had brought Belka back and were looking for her a permanent owner.
When the dog disappeared again, the shop owner near where she usually slept reported that a man and a woman had taken her. They hadn't initially known where they had taken the animal. Later, the discussion clarified that after staying in the residence, the dog was handed over to a familiar dog trainer who lives nearby for temporary care.
Residents of Kyiv requested to see photos and learn about the conditions of the animals' care. Some commenters pointed out that it takes time for animals to adjust to a new environment and interact with other animals.
Eventually, information appeared on Threads that Marina had taken Білку to live with her permanently. Users also posted photos of the new home: in one, the dog is lying on a bed and walking with its new owner.
